Welcome! I am Piet. I am a postdoctoral researcher at the [[https://www.uni-mainz.de/en|Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz]] in the [[https://www.walther-group.com|Walther Group]]. My scientific work currently focuses on getting dead things to act a little bit like alive things (non-conventional neuromorphic computing). In my [[:en:research:phdthesis:start|PhD work]], I looked at the self-assembly of colloidal particles.

In my free time, I spent time [[:en:stuff:start|hiking, rowing, reading, and toying with computers]]. That last one at least sort of explains the existence of this website.
